Parker Posey
Parker Posey: From Hal Hartley to Superman to TV Sitcom
Henry Chamberlain wrote a recent article on Parker Posey and The Return of Jezebel James on ComicBookBin.com. Here’s a snippet:
Surfing channels and then to suddenly see Parker Posey on the tube doing her thing, all her masterful nervous movements, in some odd storyline that did not quickly make itself clear was very entertaining and welcomed. It was only after settling into the plot and discovering it was really just another sitcom, no more, no less, that I had to shrug and say, “Well, it’s still Parker Posey!” because that is really all that matters in the end in this sort of situation.

Parker Posey on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
Just a heads-up. Parker Posey, star of The Return of Jezebel James, will be appearing on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Wednesday night, March 19. That’s late, late at night. 12:35 AM at night… Or is that the following morning?
However you count it, the last time Parker was on, she was truly entertaining. I expect this to be a wonderful interview as well.

Parker and Lauren at Storybook Time; and Proof About Critics
… T minus 1 day, and counting…
The Return of Jezebel James premiers Friday, March 14.
As we almost reach the premier of The Return of Jezebel James, the articles and reviews keep pouring out. Most reviews are uniform in their opinion of Jezebel James, that it sucks. For example, this reviewer from the Boston Herald says Jezebel James sucks, because it “is not funny. At all.” Meanwhile, this other genius from the Albany, N.Y. Times Union clarifies that it sucks because “the laughs come too fast and too furious; there’s no time for the show to breathe.”
Yeah… If you’re smart, you’re already ignoring the critics. Because the truth about critics is, the world is home to almost 7 billion of them, and they’re all wrong. Just watch The Return of Jezebel James Friday night and figure out for yourself whether you like it enough to keep watching. And if you enjoy the show, let the critics eat their own lunch.
On a more constructive note, here’s a video of Parker Posey spinning pottery and talking about spinning pottery.
And the bit I promised in the headline above, some photos of Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose hosting storytime at the New York Public Library. JezebelJames.net also has more photos in their gallery.

Parker Posey Speaks to the Sioux City Journal
… T minus 6 days, and counting…
The Return of Jezebel James premiers Friday, March 14.
There’s an excellent interview with Parker Posey in the Sioux City Journal Online.
I loved this part:
Posey sees the series as another “girl-centric” show that’s not about celebrity. “The writing comes from a really good place. I loved watching ’The Gilmore Girls.’ I thought it was amazing. (In one episode) they were watching Joseph Campbell DVDs during spring break. That was so me. It made me love Amy so much more.”
Loved that, because I’m a died-in-the-wool Gilmore Girls fan. I remember that GG episode. It’s from season 4, and it’s called, “Girls in Bikinis, Boys Doin’ the Twist.” Rory and Paris, in Ft. Lauderdale for spring break, spent a night watching Bill Moyers in Joseph Campbell and The Power of Myth on VHS. (I don’t know why they were watching it on VHS, but they clearly were.) A classic must-see for storytellers in any media, by the way.
Sigh. I am so looking forward to watching Amy’s work again on my TV screen!

Parker Posey's $1.35M Manhattan Apartment
… T minus 9 days, and counting…
The Return of Jezebel James premiers Friday, March 14.
Here’s a tidbit from Berg Properties’ “Big Time Listings” blog. Parker Posey sold her East Village apartment for $1.31M, and bought a two-bedroom co-op unit in nearby Greenwich Village for $1.35M. (For you and I and other normal types, the “M” stands for “Million.”)
She already owns a $650,000 three-bedroom home in upstate New York, with the garden and the wilderness. And the fireplaces and the pool…
BTW, who can guess what movie the bedroom picture in the “Big Time Listings” post is from?
In other news, Parker was cornered by a guy with a video camera, and gave a little impromptu interview at the LAX airport.
Amongst the questions: “Why don’t you live in LA?”
Answer: “Because I live in New York! I can’t live here and live there at the same time!”
Hee hee. And if we jump into the time-machine, we might find this 2007 interview with Parker Posey, about Broken English (still a great film), Jezebel James, and the answer to the LA/NY question, “Why is it important to you to remain in New York and avoid te whole LA thing?”
