We’re re-theming some of my sites to be more compatible with modern website requirements. This update is long overdue. Until it is complete, this site will have a plain, awkward look to it, and things may not be where you expect to find them, but the site should still be completely functional. Thank you for your understanding.
Mah-adir Sh’mecha (מָה־אַדִיר שְׁמֶךָ) for SATB Choir ("How Majestic is Your Name," Psalm 8)
Psalm 8 provides the lyrics for this hauntingly middle-eastern, 4-part (SATB), a-cappella, Messianic Jewish choir arrangement. (Also suitable for use in other other Jewish sects, because the words are completely from the Psalms.)
(English translation)
Hashem, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth;
You have set your splendor above the heavens;
(The name of Hashem, in all the earth; Exalt Yourself above the heavens;*)
For I will behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and stars that You set in place:
And what is man that You have been mindful of him?
Or mortal man that You have taken note of him?
Hashem, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth.
* From elsewhere in the Psalms.
